How To Sew On Fur Trim? A Complete Guide

But, before explaining the process, let us uncover the basics of fake fur. Sewing fake fur opens up a world of creative possibilities, which allows you to craft luxurious outfits and accessories.  You can create home decor with it.

Ladies, before we explain the sewing process you need to gather the tools and materials mentioned below:

  4. Fabric Marker
  5. Scissors
  6. Sewing Machine
  7. Thread
  8. Hand Sewing Needle
  9. Some Pins
  10. Seam Ripper

Alright ladies, now that you have gathered the tools and materials mentioned above, it’s time to met the story; How to sew fur trim? 

2. How To Sew On Fur Trim?

2.1 Step 1. Preparing

Alright, let’s begin with getting the basic prepare ready for the fur trim. Here you wanna lay it out on a flat surface. After that, use a measuring tape to determine the length of fur trim. 

Once you are done with this, then you goona mark the areas you have chosen to attach fur trim by using a fabric marker. These markings will serve as a roadmap for you. This step is vital for achieving a clean look.

2.2 Step 2. Cutting Process

Moving on to the cutting process, you need to start the cutting process. Start by cutting along the markings you have made on the fabric. To ensure clean edges use sharp scissors for cutting. After that, use pins to secure the fur trim in place. 

2.3 Step 3. Use Sewing Machine

Okay, let get into maid sewing process..

Now let’s move on to the 3rd step. In this step, you need to start the sewing process of fur. You need to carefully stitch around the markings. 

You need to use straight stitch at the beginning and backstitch at the ending. It will add durability to your fake fur fabric. 

2.4 Step 4. Adding Finishing Touches

Alright, last but not the least let’s talk about adding finishing touches. You need to add embellishments to give your personal touch. Always, use a sharp hand sewing needle to stitch these things to your fake fur. 

Use a seam ripper to trim any loose ends.  But don’t forget to leave seam allowance to maintain proper structure.

3. Tips and Tricks to maintain fake fur? 

If you’ve decided to sew on fur trim without any experience then here are some tips that can enhance your sewing experience:

First and foremost, As you already the more you practice with fur, the better your sewing and cutting skill for fur craft will be. That’s why, it is imperative that you do some basic practice before you work on the fur you brought for you main projects

It will also help you with seamless closure, you need to use straight stitches on scrap fabric. So, make sure to practice on a scrap fabric before attempting it on the fur directly. 

Also, Make sure to brush it daily with a wide toothed comb. Also, avoid exposing your fake fur to excessive heat.
